Candy AI Alternatives: Pick the One That Fixes Your Complaint
Most people don't leave Candy AI because the pictures are bad. They leave because of the bill, the memory, or the refund policy. Here's the...
Nastia AI sells conversation and a usable free tier. Candy AI sells the best-looking images in the category and the cheapest yearly plan. Neither is the obvious winner until you know what you'll actually do with it.
Nastia AI and Candy AI get compared constantly, and most of those comparisons are written by one of the two companies. Nastia's own site runs a page pitching itself as the Candy AI alternative. That page claims Candy costs $30 to $50 a month in token fees and quotes $0.20 per image. Treat it as marketing, not a price list.
Here is the honest split. Nastia is a chat product. Candy is a picture product that also chats. Pick wrong and you'll pay $13 to $16 a month for something you barely use. This comparison covers prices as listed, what the plans actually include, where the token systems bite, and who should walk away from both. Prices and details last checked September 30, 2026.

We rate Nastia AI 9.4 out of 10 and Candy.ai 9.8 out of 10. The gap is smaller than the marketing on either side suggests.
Nastia AI is run by Nastia Cybernetics, a French company. It advertises 800,000+ users, a figure the company publishes and nobody outside it has verified. Traffic estimates put it at roughly 548,000 monthly organic visits, so the user number isn't pure fantasy.
Candy AI is run by EverAI Limited, registered in Malta. Traffic estimates land around 332,000 monthly organic visits. Its billing descriptor shows up as EverAI, which matters if you share a card statement with anyone.
Both are EU companies, both are 18+, and neither has a native iOS or Android app. You use them in a browser or install them as a progressive web app. If a real app icon on your home screen is a dealbreaker, both are out.
Nastia says character creation is unlimited with no extra cost. You can also run group chats with up to 10 companions, which very few competitors document at all. Candy has no documented group chat.
Candy takes the opposite approach: it charges. A custom character costs about 10 tokens, and a free account gets exactly one. Paid plans open things up, and Premium Plus adds personas and chat clones, but the exact price of Premium Plus isn't listed publicly. You have to get to checkout to see it.
If you like building a cast of characters and rotating between them, Nastia's structure fits better. If you want a small number of polished companions and don't care about a crowd, Candy's fine.
This is the category's weak spot on both sides, and it's where most reviews get vague.
Nastia advertises persistent memory. Reviewers report something messier: a reviewer estimate of roughly 50+ recent messages held, one report of memory lasting about two weeks, and a common pattern where a detail is remembered on day four and gone by day seven. One review rated Nastia's chat around 8/10. So: better than most, not the permanent memory the pricing page implies.
Candy's storylines have been reported to reset after 48 to 72 hours. Bonza.Chat and Kalon, both competitors with a reason to exaggerate, claim Candy's memory fades after 10 to 15 messages. Take the number with salt, but the direction matches what users say.
Neither platform is a memory champ. If long-term recall is your main requirement, neither is the right buy โ Secrets AI is the one usually recommended for that, and our Secrets AI vs Candy AI comparison covers the difference in detail.
Practical tip that applies to both: put the facts you care about in the backstory or a memory slot at setup. Anything only said in chat will eventually fall out of context.
Candy wins visuals and it isn't close. Its images are the most photorealistic in the category, it does image-to-video conversion, and it has a Live Action mode. Video conversion costs about 12 tokens. There's no from-scratch text-to-video generation, so you're animating a still, not generating a scene.
Nastia's images are stylized. A generation takes 30 to 60 seconds and costs 10 tokens. Video arrived in 2025 and reviewers describe it as short and uneven. The Unlimited plan lists 1080p video and 4K selfies, so the resolution is there; the quality behind it is behind Candy.
Voice: Nastia does voice messages and custom voice cloning on Unlimited. Candy does voice messages and a beta voice call feature at roughly 3 tokens per minute. Cloning your own voice is a niche feature; an actual call is the more useful one for most people. Candy takes voice.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5 messages total, 1 custom character, 1 image |
| Premium monthly | $13.99/month | Unlimited messages, 18+ images and video, 100 tokens monthly |
| Premium 3 months | $8.99/month ($26.97) | Same, 100 tokens monthly |
| Premium 12 months | $3.99/month ($47.88) | Same, 100 tokens monthly |
| Premium Plus | Not listed publicly | 330 tokens, personas, 20 memory slots, chat clones |
That $3.99 yearly figure is the cheapest headline in this comparison and it's real. The catch is the 100 tokens a month. Recent reviews put images at about 4 tokens each โ older sources said 2, so assume the higher number. At 4 tokens, 100 tokens is 25 images a month. Voice calls at 3 tokens per minute eat the same budget. Top-ups have been reported from $9.99 for 100 tokens.
Run the math and the yearly plan stops looking cheap for anyone who actually uses the pictures. Independent reviewers report media-heavy Candy users paying $25 to $80 monthly once top-ups are counted. That's the number to plan around, not $3.99.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Chat with daily token limits, no card needed |
| Basic / Standard | $11.99/month | Listed by Nastia; contents not described anywhere we could find |
| Unlimited | $15.99/month | Unlimited messages, 4K selfies, voice messages, 1080p video, multiple companions, voice cloning |
Nastia's plan names differ between its own pages, and the $11.99 tier's contents aren't spelled out. That's a red flag for a paid product. If you can't tell what you're buying, buy the tier that's described.
Unlimited means messages. Images and voice notes still cost tokens. Reported token packs run 500 for $3.99, and Unlimited reportedly comes with about 3,000 bonus tokens monthly. Annual billing has been reported from about $8.33 a month.
Nastia's page claims Candy charges $0.20 per image and $0.30 per call minute. Do the math from Candy's own top-up price โ 100 tokens for $9.99 โ and 3 tokens per minute is indeed about $0.30. But 4 tokens per image is closer to $0.40, not $0.20. Nastia is quoting an old rate to make its rival look cheaper than it is. The call-minute figure holds up.
Nastia's free tier lets you chat with daily token limits and no card required. Reviewers report about 40 free daily tokens. One review found no NSFW content available on the free tier during testing, so if that's what you're there for, free won't get you there.
Nastia's own girlfriend page undermines itself: it says free forever with no lockout cap, and the pricing card on the same page lists daily token limits. Both can't be the whole truth. Assume daily limits and be pleasantly surprised if they're generous.
Candy's free tier is 5 messages total. Not per day. Total. Plus one character and one image. It's a demo, not a trial. If you want to know whether Candy is for you, five messages won't tell you.
Both platforms allow adult content behind payment. Both draw hard lines at anything involving minors. Candy's rules ban content resembling minors and state CSAM is reported to NCMEC. Nastia's terms ban minors, including aged-up characters, plus non-consensual content and impersonation of real people.
Nastia's aged-up character ban is worth reading twice. It rules out the "she's 18, honest" workaround some platforms tolerate. That's a stricter line than most and it applies to you as a user.
Neither platform offers end-to-end encryption. That's the headline.
Candy encrypts data in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher. Prompts and outputs may be de-identified and used for model training, with some human review involved. Message content is shared with third-party model providers, hosting companies and moderation vendors. Account data is kept up to three years after your last activity. That's a lot of places your chats can end up.
Nastia updated its privacy policy on September 16, 2026. It says it doesn't sell personal data โ a company promise, not an audited fact. Its processors include cloud, AI, payment, analytics and advertising providers, some in the US. Notably, the policy doesn't explicitly address model training either way. Silence isn't reassurance.
Account deletion on Nastia is immediate, but cancel the subscription first or you'll keep paying for an account that no longer exists. It keeps violation records for up to seven years.
Candy refunds only within 24 hours, only if you've used 20 tokens or fewer, and only to the original card. EU and UK users get a prorated 14-day withdrawal right by law. Everyone else: the 24-hour window is the whole policy.
Nastia subscriptions auto-renew and are generally non-refundable. Payment methods differ too. Candy takes card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer and crypto, and its interface runs in 13 languages. Nastia's options are narrower.
Pick Nastia if you mostly type. You want a companion to talk to daily, you'll build several characters, and you want a free tier that tells you something before you pay. $15.99 Unlimited is the honest buy โ the $11.99 tier is too vaguely described to recommend.
Pick Candy if you want pictures. You'll generate images and short clips regularly, you want the most realistic look available, and you're fine budgeting $25 to $80 a month in top-ups if you use it hard. Start monthly at $13.99. Do not jump to the $3.99 yearly plan before you've measured your token burn for a month.
Skip both if you need real long-term memory. Nastia forgets over weeks, Candy forgets over days, and neither will hold a year of history. Look at a memory-first platform instead โ our ranking of AI companion apps sorts them by what you actually need.
The field is wider than these two. OurDream AI runs $19.99 monthly or $9.99 a month billed yearly with 1,000 dreamcoins monthly, and reviewers flag fuzzy privacy as the trade-off โ see our OurDream AI review. Secrets AI starts at $19.99 monthly with editable Lorebooks for memory; it costs more and remembers more.
Joi AI, from Cyprus-based Novi Limited, uses a Neurons currency and starts at $17.77 a month. Ofcom ran an age-assurance investigation into it from January to July 2026, closed after age checks were added. Nectar AI starts at $9.99 a month with 15 free messages and 10 generations daily, and credit top-ups reportedly hit $60 to $75 monthly at moderate use.
Nomi AI runs three memory layers, according to Nastia's own comparison page. That's the one to check if memory is the deciding factor.
Nastia AI is the better companion. Candy AI is the better camera. If you want someone to talk to every day, $15.99 on Nastia buys more of what you'll actually use. If you want images that don't look generated, Candy's output is worth the token math โ but do the math first.
Either way, start monthly, watch your token consumption for four weeks, and only then commit to a year. Both platforms are happy to auto-renew you into a plan you outgrew in week two.
For conversation, roleplay and price, yes. Nastia's chat holds up better and its free tier is usable. Candy wins clearly on image quality, video and voice calls, so the answer depends on whether you mostly type or mostly look.
Candy's yearly plan at $3.99 a month has the lowest sticker price, but the 100 monthly tokens run out fast at about 4 tokens per image. Nastia's $15.99 Unlimited is better value for heavy chat users because messages are unlimited and media is the only token cost.
No. Unlimited covers messages, but images and voice notes still cost tokens, and the free plan has daily token limits. Nastia's own pages contradict each other on how free the free tier is.
Neither has a native iOS or Android app. Both run in a mobile browser and can be installed as a progressive web app, which works but isn't the same as a store app.
Nastia, slightly. Reviewers report it holding roughly 50+ recent messages, with some details surviving days and others gone within a week. Candy's storylines have been reported to reset after 48 to 72 hours. Neither is reliable for long-term memory.
Three platforms, ranked on what they actually deliver: memory that holds, voices that sound human, and prices you can check before signing up. Nobody paid for a spot on this list.
