Candy AI Alternatives: Pick the One That Fixes Your Complaint
Most people don't leave Candy AI because the pictures are bad. They leave because of the bill, the memory, or the refund policy. Here's the...
Candy AI is cheaper to start and takes the better pictures. OurDream AI gives you ten times the credits and longer video. Here is where each one actually wins.
Two of the busiest AI companion sites, two very different business models. Candy AI sells you a low entry price and then charges tokens for almost everything visual. OurDream AI charges more up front and hands you a big pile of credits each month. Which one is the better buy depends almost entirely on how much media you plan to generate.
We compared published pricing pages, terms of service and user reports. Prices below were checked in September 2026. Nobody paid us, and there are no affiliate links in this piece.
OurDream AI scores slightly higher overall in our rankings at 9.7 out of 10, against Candy AI at 9.8 out of 10. That gap is small and it hides a split decision:
If neither fits, our Secrets AI review covers a platform that puts memory first, which is the weak spot on both of these.
| Category | Candy AI | OurDream AI | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall score | 9.8 | 9.7 | OurDream AI |
| Image realism | 10 | 8.9 | Candy AI |
| Video | 9.2 | 9.9 | OurDream AI |
| Customization | 10 | 10 | OurDream AI |
| Memory | 7.2 | 7.9 | OurDream AI |
| Value | 8.2 | 9.9 | OurDream AI |
| Privacy | 7.2 | 6.9 | Tie |
Both platforms give paid subscribers unlimited text chat. That is the part you stop thinking about. The money question is what happens when you want a picture, a clip or a voice note.
Candy AI runs on tokens. A monthly Premium plan comes with 100 tokens. An in-chat image costs around 4 tokens, so roughly 25 images a month. Video runs about 12 tokens per clip, which is about 8 clips. Voice sits near 3 tokens per minute. It adds up fast, and the token system is the single most common complaint in user reports.
OurDream AI runs on dreamcoins, and it is far more generous. A monthly plan gives 1,000 dreamcoins. An in-chat image is 5 coins, so about 200 images. Video is 100 coins per five seconds, up to 60 seconds, which means the monthly allowance covers roughly 10 short clips. Voice calls cost 50 dreamcoins per minute.
Same subscription length, ten times the credit headline. That is the whole comparison in one paragraph.

Candy AI walks you through a detailed creation flow and gets you into a chat quickly. Extra custom characters cost roughly 10 tokens each in tester reports, which is a tenth of a monthly allowance. Do that three times and your image budget is gone.
OurDream AI goes deeper. Appearance, personality and scenario fields are more granular, and creating a chatbot costs 10 dreamcoins, a fraction of the monthly pool. The bigger draw is the community library: over 11 million characters, ready to talk. If you would rather browse than build, OurDream wins without a contest.
OurDream also supports multi-character scenes. You can pull several bots into one chat and get a reply by clicking a portrait or typing @ and a name. Candy AI group roleplay is not confirmed anywhere we could find.
This is Candy AI's home turf. Faces stay consistent across generations, the output looks polished, and selfies reportedly render in under five seconds according to one comparison site. Realism is the best thing about the platform, and it is why people forgive the token bills.
OurDream AI produces excellent images too, realistic and anime both, and it costs far less per picture. The catch is consistency: the same character can drift between generations more than Candy users are used to.
Per-image economics, using reported top-up prices:
| Item | Candy AI | OurDream AI |
|---|---|---|
| Image | ~4 tokens (~25/mo) | 5 coins in-chat (~200/mo) |
| Video | ~12 tokens (~8 clips) | 100 coins per 5s; 200 Ultra |
| Audio | ~3 tokens/min voice | 20 coins/sec add-on; 50 coins/min calls |
| Extra image cost | ~$0.40 | ~$0.06 |
Read that last row twice. Extra Candy tokens have been reported from $9.99 per 100, which puts a single extra image near 40 cents. OurDream top-ups reported at $11.99 per 1,000 dreamcoins put an extra image near 6 cents. Heavy Candy users reportedly spend $25 to $60 a month on top-ups, some as high as $80. That is the subscription price several times over.
Candy AI does image-to-video and, per one review, launched Live Action in February 2026. Live Action burns tokens roughly three times faster than images, so a handful of clips can eat a monthly allowance. OurDream AI wins on length and control: clips up to 60 seconds, an Ultra mode at 200 coins, and an optional audio add-on at 20 coins per second. The audio add-on is expensive. Twenty coins a second is 1,200 coins a minute, more than a full monthly allowance.
Voice is close on quality, and neither is great. We rate both at 8.2 and 7.9 respectively for voice, which is middling. Candy offers voice notes and calls in beta at around 3 tokens per minute. OurDream charges 50 dreamcoins per minute for calls and 5 coins per paragraph for narration.
Unlimited messages on both paid tiers. Memory is where it falls apart. Candy's memory has been reported to reset storylines after 48 to 72 hours, and resetting a chat clears its memory entirely. Premium Plus adds 20 memory slots, but the price is not published until checkout. OurDream scores a little better here but is not strong either. Neither platform handles weeks-long continuity well. If that is your priority, look beyond both.
One claim to ignore: a site states OurDream caps messages at 500 or 2,000. That conflicts with the official unlimited messaging. Trust the vendor page on this one.
OurDream's Genius chat models cost 1 coin per reply on top of the subscription, which is cheap but worth knowing. Candy's moderation and OurDream's Automod both filter content; OurDream has admitted its filter is currently too sensitive. Both platforms ban minors, real-person deepfakes and illegal material, and both may ask for ID or age estimation in some regions.
| Candy AI plan | Price | Billed | Tokens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | n/a | None (5 messages, 1 character, 1 image) |
| Premium monthly | $13.99/mo | Monthly | 100/mo |
| Premium 3 months | $8.99/mo | $26.97 every 3 months | 100/mo |
| Premium 12 months | $3.99/mo | $47.88 a year | 100/mo |
| Premium Plus | Not published | At checkout | 330/mo |
| OurDream AI plan | Price | Billed | Dreamcoins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | n/a | None; 1 coin per message |
| Premium monthly | $19.99/mo | Monthly | 1,000/mo |
| Premium annual | $9.99/mo | $119.88 a year | 2,000 upfront, then 1,000/mo |
Candy AI's annual plan at $3.99 a month, $47.88 a year, is the cheapest real subscription in this comparison. OurDream AI's annual plan is $119.88 a year. On sticker price Candy wins by a mile. On credits per dollar OurDream wins by roughly ten to one, and dreamcoins do not expire.
Ignore older Candy figures you will see quoted elsewhere: $12.99 a month and $5.99 a month annual are outdated. Also ignore any promo codes or third-party app listings. Both platforms run only on their official sites.
Neither free tier is usable for long. Candy AI gives 5 messages total, one character and one image. OurDream AI charges 1 dreamcoin per message on the free tier, blocks media entirely and does not let you buy coins. A tie in the sense that both are demos, not products.
This is the section where both platforms lose points, and our privacy scores for the two are level.
Candy AI is run by EverAI Limited in Malta, which means GDPR applies. Traffic is encrypted in transit but there is no end-to-end encryption. Candy may train models on de-identified prompts with human review, and it keeps account data for up to 3 years after last activity. Read that before you type anything identifying.
OurDream AI is run by Dream Studio USA, Inc., a Delaware company. It encrypts data at rest and in transit and uses SOC 2 Type 2 hosting, which is solid. But its homepage claims end-to-end encryption, and its own policy does not support that. Account deletion takes 24 to 48 hours. We covered the gap in more detail in our OurDream AI review.
One more OurDream catch that costs people real work: if your subscription lapses, all generated images and videos are blurred. Download everything you want to keep.
Candy AI's refund policy is tight. You have 24 hours, you must have used 20 tokens or fewer, and it only applies to card payments. EU and UK users get a 14-day prorated withdrawal right under local law. Cancel and any unused tokens expire at the end of the billing period. The charge shows up as EverAI on your statement.
OurDream AI gives you 14 days to report a problem and decides case by case. It denies refunds once 25% of the product is used, which on a credit-based system can happen in one session. Crypto payments are final on both platforms. OurDream takes cards, crypto and G2A codes but not PayPal. Candy takes Visa, Mastercard, debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer and crypto.
Refund rules change. Read the current policy the day you pay, not the day you complain.

Neither has a native iPhone or Android app. Both are browser-only, though you can add them to your home screen. Both are 18+ and market themselves as fully uncensored within their content rules.
For a fuller look at Candy's token economics, see our Candy.ai review.
For most people who will actually pay, OurDream AI is the better buy. Unlimited messages, 1,000 dreamcoins a month, longer video, deeper character creation and a community library that dwarfs Candy's. The higher sticker price is repaid in credits within the first month if you generate anything.
Candy AI is the right pick if polished images are the whole point and you want to spend as little as possible getting them. It is a good product with an expensive habit attached.
Either way: buy one month first, not a year. Watch your credit burn for two weeks before committing. And keep identifying details out of the chat. Neither policy is strong enough to be careless with.
OurDream AI scores slightly higher overall in our rankings, mostly on value, video and customization. Candy AI wins on image quality and has the lowest entry price. The right pick depends on whether you generate a lot of media or just want good pictures cheaply.
Candy AI's subscription is cheaper: $3.99 a month billed yearly versus $9.99 a month for OurDream AI. But OurDream hands out 1,000 dreamcoins a month against Candy's 100 tokens, so heavy media users tend to spend less overall on OurDream despite the higher subscription.
Yes. Both are 18+ platforms that market themselves as uncensored within their rules. Both ban minors, real-person deepfakes and illegal material, and both may require ID or age estimation in some regions.
OurDream AI is slightly better, but neither is strong at long-term continuity. Candy AI storylines have been reported to reset after 48 to 72 hours, and resetting a chat wipes its memory. Plan to remind either character of key details.
No native app exists for either platform. Both run in the browser, and both can be added to your home screen as a shortcut.
Three platforms, ranked on what they actually deliver: memory that holds, voices that sound human, and prices you can check before signing up. Nobody paid for a spot on this list.
