GuideMuah AI vs Candy AI: Which One Should You Pay For?

Muah AI and Candy AI both promise adult AI companions, but they differ on price, privacy and what you actually get. We break down the plans, the fine print and the 2024 breach.

Muah AI and Candy AI are two of the most searched adult AI companion apps. Both let you chat with fictional characters, generate images and make voice calls. But they take different routes to your wallet, and one has a privacy record you need to know about before you type anything personal.

We read the pricing pages, privacy policies and user reports. Here is the blunt version: Candy AI is the safer default for most people. Muah AI is the specialist pick if you want deep character control and live phone calls, and you are willing to accept the risk.

Verdict at a glance

Candy AI wins on images, entry price and privacy. Muah AI wins on customization and voice features. Memory is a tie, and that is not a compliment to either.

Platform positioning

Muah AI sells itself as the customizable companion. It gives you a blank canvas: you write the personality, set the appearance and decide how the character talks. It also pushes real-time phone calls, but those sit behind the most expensive plan.

Candy AI is the polished product. It has a cleaner interface, better image generation and a guided character builder that walks you through options. It is made by EverAI Limited, registered in Malta, so it falls under GDPR. That matters for privacy, as you will see.

Neither app has an official Apple or Google store listing. Both are web apps you open in a browser. Candy also works as a progressive web app. If you want a native app, you are out of luck with both.

NSFW policy and filters

Both platforms are 18+ and require an age gate. Both allow adult fictional characters and forbid minors. That is the baseline. The enforcement differs.

Muah says staff remove underage content. Paid tiers add Photo X-Ray for explicit images. Candy keeps all 18+ media behind Premium, so free users cannot open adult images or video at all. Candy's terms promise zero tolerance for CSAM, and messages are auto-flagged.

For context, Character AI filters explicit content for everyone. Both Muah and Candy are looser than that. If you want a middle ground, read our ranking of the best AI companion apps.

Character creation

Muah AI: free-form prompts

Muah gives you a Core Prompt box for personality, behavior and history. A separate Look-Like box sets appearance. There is also a creator tool that drafts a profile from an uploaded image. You get ten character slots, and more unlock via XP.

Muah's marketing cites more than 12,000 community characters. The temperature slider claim is unverified by reviewers. Treat that as a vendor claim, not a fact.

Candy AI: guided builder

Candy uses a Create My AI builder with set options: ethnicity, age, body type, hair, personality, voice and hobbies. It also has over 100 pre-made characters, including girls, guys and anime styles. Each character creation costs about 10 tokens.

The trade-off is clear. Muah gives you more control if you know what you want. Candy is faster and harder to mess up. If you have never built a character before, Candy's builder is the easier start.

Memory and conversation

Neither app remembers well. That is the honest answer.

Muah's memory is a token budget tied to your plan. Context fades around 40-50 messages. Reviewers report characters mixing up names. If you want long, coherent conversations, Muah will frustrate you.

Candy Premium Plus adds 20 memory slots. There are Reset and Delete Chat options that clear memory. But testers see plots reset within two or three days. So even the paid memory tier does not hold a story for long.

If memory is your priority, neither app is the answer. Nomi AI is the usual suggestion for memory-focused users. For a deeper look at Candy's memory problems, see our Candy.ai review.

Media: images, video, voice

Images

Candy wins here. Its V2 image model is credited for a quality jump, and faces stay consistent across generations. That consistency matters if you want a character who looks the same in every picture. Candy is among the most realistic in the niche.

Muah offers Realistic, Anime and Pro styles. It also handles photo exchange. The output is good, but not as consistently photorealistic as Candy.

Video

Candy Premium adds image-to-video and Live Action scenes. Muah turns images into short clips with audio. Both charge more for video: on Candy, a video conversion costs about 12 tokens. On Muah, video clips cost more as they get longer.

Voice and calls

Muah has a Record button for voice messages and a Gen Voice feature that speaks replies. Real-time calls are Ultra only, at $99.99/mo or $999/yr. An older Reddit post says calls are US only. Call quality is described as mixed, and voice limits depend on your plan.

Candy has voice notes and beta calls at about 3 tokens per minute. That is cheaper to try than Muah's Ultra tier, but it is still token-metered.

Both apps offer voice. Only Muah offers live calls as a headline feature, and you pay heavily for it.

Pricing and plans

Here is the sticker price comparison. Watch the token systems, because the sticker price is not the real cost for most people.

PlanMuah AICandy AI
FreeDaily message limits, photo quotas, locked images5 messages, 1 character, 1 image
Entry monthlyVIP $19.99 unlimited chatPremium $13.99, 100 tokens/mo
Entry annualVIP $69.99/yr, about $5.83/mo$47.88/yr, $3.99/mo
MiddleGPT5/UHD VIP $49.99/mo or $499/yrQuarterly $26.97, $8.99/mo
TopUltra VIP $99.99/mo or $999/yr, callsPremium Plus 330 tokens/mo, checkout price

Muah's VIP is $19.99/mo for unlimited chat. Annual is $69.99, about $5.83/mo. The GPT5/UHD VIP is $49.99/mo or $499/yr. Ultra VIP is $99.99/mo or $999/yr and unlocks calls.

Candy Premium is $13.99/mo with 100 tokens. Annual is $47.88, or $3.99/mo. Quarterly is $26.97, or $8.99/mo. Premium Plus gives 330 tokens/mo, but the price is at checkout. Some guides still cite the old Candy price of $12.99/mo. The current price is $13.99.

Both apps use token or credit systems for media. On Candy, an image costs about 4 tokens. Token packs are reported from $9.99 for 100. Comparison sites estimate Candy token extras at $20-$30/mo, and media-heavy users report $25-$80/mo total spend. Muah uses XP to unlock character slots and some media upgrades. Video clips cost more as they get longer.

Some sites claim Muah offers free unlimited text and images. The data contradicts that. Muah's free tier has daily limits and photo quotas.

Free tier reality

Neither free tier is a real trial. They are demos.

Muah gives you daily message limits, photo quotas and locked images. You can test the chat and see how the character creation works, but you will hit walls fast.

Candy gives you five messages, one character and one image total. That is enough to see the interface and judge image quality. It is not enough to build a relationship with a character.

Muah's free tier is more generous for text chat. Candy's is enough to decide if you like the image style. Use both free tiers before paying. Then pay monthly before annual.

Privacy and safety

This is where the two apps separate sharply.

Muah AI: the 2024 breach

In September 2024, Muah suffered a breach. About 1.9 million emails and prompts were copied. Have I Been Pwned added the breach on October 8, 2024, and flagged it sensitive. 404 Media reported that a large share of the leaked prompts sought CSAM. Troy Hunt noted that many users signed up with real-name addresses. Malwarebytes covered extortion attempts using the leaked data.

Muah's admin blamed competitors. There has been no post-mortem, no audit and no user notice since. The privacy policy has an effective date of May 17, 2022, and does not mention encryption. Muah collects names, emails, phone numbers, IP addresses and device data. Comparison notes say Muah shows your email and IP in account settings.

Muah does offer a Wipe Cloud Data tool to clear stored chats. Checkout is labeled Fevermate VIP, and card only. There are no refunds by default. Support may grant a one-time exception.

If you use Muah, treat your data as already exposed. Use a separate email. Do not put anything identifying in your profile. If you signed up before October 2024, check Have I Been Pwned.

Candy AI: cleaner record, still not private

Candy has no reported public breaches as of now. EverAI is subject to GDPR, and charges appear as EverAI on statements. That is better than Muah, but it is not a privacy guarantee.

Some sites claim Candy offers end-to-end encryption. Its policy says TLS 1.2+ in transit only. That is not end-to-end encryption. Candy may train models on de-identified chats, and content may reach third-party model providers. Candy holds account records up to three years past your final login. Refunds are only available if requested within a day and 20 or fewer tokens spent.

Neither app offers end-to-end encryption. If that is a dealbreaker, you need to look elsewhere. Our Secrets AI vs Candy AI comparison covers a platform with a stronger privacy story, though Secrets AI chats can still feed model training.

Who each suits

Candy AI suits most people. If you want good images, a clean interface, a lower entry price and a vendor without a breach on its record, Candy is the default. It is also the easier app for beginners because the builder does the work.

Muah AI suits tinkerers. If you want to write a character from scratch, control personality and appearance in detail, and make live phone calls, Muah is the pick. You pay for it: $99.99/mo for calls, and you accept the privacy risk.

Skip both if memory is your priority. Skip both if end-to-end encryption is a requirement. Skip Muah if you are not willing to use a burner email and fake details.

Alternatives

If Candy's token system puts you off, OurDream AI is worth a look. Premium is $19.99/mo, or $9.99/mo yearly, with unlimited chat and voice via dreamcoins. Caveat: its FAQ claims end-to-end encryption, but the policy only mentions server-side. Read our OurDream AI review.

If memory matters most, Secrets AI Premium is $19.99/mo. Live calls are billed in Moments, and account closure erases chats. Caveat: conversations can still feed model training. See our Secrets AI review.

For other Candy matchups, we have compared CrushOn, Nastia, Joi and Darlink. If you are weighing Candy against OurDream specifically, our Candy AI vs OurDream AI piece goes deeper.

Bottom line

Candy AI is the safer default. Better images, cheaper entry, cleaner privacy record. Muah AI is the specialist pick for deep editing and live calls, but never use it with your real identity.

Try both free tiers. Pay monthly before annual. And read the refund terms before you enter a card.

Frequently asked questions

Candy AI is better for most people: stronger images, a lower entry price and no reported breach. Muah AI is the pick if you want deep character control and live phone calls, and you accept the privacy risk.

It is usable, but treat your data as already exposed. Use a separate email, avoid anything identifying and check Have I Been Pwned if you signed up before October 2024.

Candy's yearly plan at $3.99/mo beats Muah VIP at about $5.83/mo. Heavy image users may flip that because Candy's token system adds cost.

Both offer calls, but Muah's live calls require the $99.99/mo Ultra tier. Candy's beta calls cost about 3 tokens per minute.

Yes, briefly. Muah has a demo with daily limits and photo quotas. Candy gives five messages and one image total. Neither has a native app.
